Centre launches southern zone training workshop on eLISS livestock data app in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Nov 28 (UNI) The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying has begun a two-day training programme in Telangana focussing on the use of the eLISS mobile application for livestock statistical data collection.
Nodal and district nodal officers from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Lakshadweep and Telangana are participating in the workshop, being held on November 28–29.
The programme was inaugurated by B Gopi, IAS, Director of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry, Government of Telangana, at the TGIRD Training Institute in Hyderabad. Jagat Hazarika, Statistical Advisor with the Department of Livestock Statistics, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, attended as special guest.
In his opening remarks, Gopi highlighted the importance of accurate livestock data for planning and policy formulation at the national level. He said the digital system will help streamline field information, strengthen decision-making and improve the efficiency of livestock development schemes.
Jagat Hazarika stated that village-level data collected through integrated sample surveys will be collated and reported at state, national and international platforms, enabling better comparative analysis and targeted interventions.
IASRI Senior Scientist Dr Prachi Mishra Sahu briefed participants on the roll-out of the eLISS software, noting that the country has transitioned to digitised livestock data reporting from 2023–24.
The workshop aims to enhance field reporting efficiency and ensure uniform and real-time livestock data collection across southern states, an official statement said.
